Travelling in My Mind Project

Explore the evolution of digital art from 2022 to 2025.

It Begins

My Japanese Craze

Exploring Japansese Historic Books and Art

2023 was a big year for me in exploring Japanese historical literature and art — and I even ventured into manga. It all began in 2022 with a fascination for Samurai Art and Ukiyo-e, the art of the "floating world." A visit to the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities in Stockholm offered the sublime experience of seeing Ando Hiroshige’s woodblock prints in the Japan exhibition. During that journey, I also took several photos, which later served as backgrounds for my 2024 images.

That museum visit in October became a source of inspiration that stayed with me for a long time. The image in this section — Travelling in My Mind — was created using photographs taken during that October 2022 trip. They were composed with both intentional Japanese inspiration and a touch of good old luck along the way in Stockholm.

Photography, for me, is an intuitive art—an exploration of light, movement, and form. Inspired by Impressionism and Japanese woodblock prints, I love pushing the limits of the camera to see what it can create. My background in art history and darkroom photography has shaped my vision, but I’m always looking for new ways to evolve.

It Evolves

My 16th digital work, to the right, builds on the same photo series that inspired Travelling in My Mind. Those images are still special to me—they remind me why I started with photography and art history in the first place.

Silhouettes have been a thread in my work for years. Whether it’s in nature, portraits, or city scenes, I keep coming back to that form. In this project, I’m continuing that path, with a quiet nod to the artists who mixed East and West long before me.

2024–2025
I’ve always been drawn to light and shadow—especially the kind you find in Impressionism, or in the Japanese word komorebi: sunlight filtering through leaves. It’s a small moment that can feel surprisingly joyful.

When I shoot backgrounds for my images, I don’t plan them. I just try to catch the light when it appears. Some of the best ones happen when I least expect it. That unpredictability is part of what keeps it interesting.
